Terms & Privacy
Effective October 14, 20261. Your account
- To make an account you need a username, a password (or Sign in with Google), and a working email address. Each email can have one account.
- Keep your password private. You're responsible for what happens on your account. If you think someone else has used it, change your password from Your account.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use Media Mart.
- One person, one account please. Accounts made by bots or to abuse the service may be removed.
2. What we collect, and why
- Account details: your username, email address, and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password. We never store your actual password. If you use Sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and a Google account number, never your Google password.
- Your profile: display name, picture and "about you" text, if you add them, plus who you follow and who follows you.
- Your collection: the films you add, their format, condition, edition, what you paid, your notes and libraries.
- Price logs: if you log a sale by hand, its price helps everyone's estimates. If you delete your account, those prices stay as anonymous data with your name removed.
- Technical basics: to keep the service safe we briefly use your internet address to limit sign-up and sign-in attempts. We don't use tracking cookies or advertising trackers.
We use your email only for account messages: confirming your address and resetting your password. No newsletters or marketing unless you separately ask for them.
3. Your profile and sharing
- Your profile shows your username, display name, picture and "about you" text. You choose who can see your shelf (your films, libraries and, if you allow it, their values) in Your account → Profile: Everyone on Media Mart, Followers I approve (the starting setting), or Only me.
- With "Followers I approve", signed-in collectors can find your profile and ask to follow you; only people you approve can see your shelf. With "Only me", nobody else can find, follow or see you.
- You can hide dollar values from your shelf at any time. What you paid, your notes and your email are never shown to anyone else.
- Following is one-way; when you follow each other you're "friends". You can unfollow, decline requests, or remove a follower whenever you like.
- Only upload a profile picture you have the right to use, and nothing offensive. We may remove pictures or profiles that break these terms.
- Profiles and shelves are only visible to people signed in to Media Mart, not to search engines.
4. Who else is involved
- Film information and posters come from TMDB or Wikidata. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- Price data is based on listings and sales on eBay. Media Mart is not affiliated with or endorsed by eBay. "Find it on eBay" links take you to eBay's site, where eBay's own terms apply.
- Sign in with Google is provided by Google; their privacy policy applies to your Google account.
- Payments for memberships are processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details; Media Mart only learns whether your membership is active.
- Email delivery and hosting are handled by service providers who process data only to run Media Mart.
We never sell or rent your personal information.
5. Download your data
Any time, open Your account → Your data (tap your @username at the top of the page) and choose Download my data. You get a file with your account details, profile, every film in your collection, your libraries, who you follow and who follows you, and any sales you logged. You can also download a spreadsheet (CSV) of your collection, and import a Media Mart backup file into any account.
6. Delete your account
Open Your account → Delete account and confirm with your password (or your username, if you use Google). Your account, profile, picture, collection, libraries, follows and sign-ins are deleted right away and can't be recovered, so download your data first if you want a copy. For safety, the app keeps automatic daily backups for up to 14 days; deleted accounts disappear from those as the old backups are replaced, within 14 days.
7. Prices are estimates
Values in Media Mart are estimates calculated from public listings and recorded sales, adjusted for condition and edition. They can be wrong, out of date or missing, and they aren't an appraisal, an offer to buy, or financial advice. Please don't rely on them alone when buying, selling, insuring or valuing anything.
8. Walk-in and Member accounts
Every account starts as a free Walk-in account, which holds up to 100 films and shows the last 30 days of price history. A Member account unlocks unlimited films, full price history and every recorded sale and listing.
- Billing. Memberships are a monthly subscription at the price shown when you join (currently $3.99 a month, plus any tax). Payments are processed by Stripe; Media Mart never sees or stores your card number. Your subscription renews automatically each month until you cancel.
- Cancelling. Cancel any time from Your account → Membership → Manage billing. You keep Member features until the end of the month you've paid for. We don't give partial refunds for unused time, except where the law requires it.
- Gift and promo codes give a membership for the time stated with the code. Codes can't be exchanged for money.
- If a membership ends, nothing is deleted. Your films, libraries and history stay in your account; you just can't add more than 100 films, and older history is hidden until you rejoin.
- Price changes. If the membership price changes, we'll tell you by email before your next renewal at the new price.
9. Fair use of Media Mart
- Don't try to break, overload, scrape or get around the limits of the service, or access other people's accounts.
- Don't log fake sales to push prices up or down.
- To keep things running smoothly for everyone there are limits, for example on how many accounts one internet connection can create each day and how many films and libraries one account can hold.
We may suspend accounts that break these rules.
10. The service
We work hard to keep Media Mart running and your data safe, but it's provided "as is", without guarantees that it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Media Mart isn't liable for indirect losses, lost profits, or decisions made based on price estimates.
11. Changes
If we make important changes to these terms, we'll update the date above and ask you to agree again the next time you sign in.
